Hello humans! As mentioned in my previous post, I said I was going to try to recap every lakorn I finished translating so here I go. First lakorn of 2024!
I adored August & Namfah from Mae Krua Kon Mai so when they announced they were going to reunite in Ruk Tuam Toong, I was so happy. But that was probably a couple years ago. I’ll be honest, if this lakorn had aired maybe last year or the year before that, my feelings might have been different. But my craziness of them eventually fizzled out so by the time this lakorn aired, I was so so. It’s not that I didn’t like them anymore, they’re still cute together but my craziness was gone. If that make sense and I’m sure this happens to a lot of people for their bias.
Because of the genre and setting of the lakorn, I didn’t have much high expectations. And just because I didn’t set an expectation, it didn’t stop me from being annoyed and disappointed. Yes, that’s right. I am disappointed and annoyed. Why? I just think August and Namfah should have been in a different kind of lakorn. A better romantic/comedy genre. The lakorn started out okay but as the storyline progressed, tell me I wasn’t the only one that thought they focused too much on the gambling shit along with Mae Pong and Mae Jam’s screen time!!! I was like 😤😤 I don’t know what kind of message they were trying to give but it was too much. It stirred away from the leads 🙄 I also think because it focused too much on the baddies and gambling time, it was the reason why so many scenes got cut out. For sure, Songkran Festival scene got cut out, the salt farm got cut out, and some other scenes got cut for the finale because in still photos that a PR staff posted, Krongthong gave birth and I saw Marasri and Temorn with the baby. I just don’t understand why they would cut scenes fans would probably want to see over side characters that nobody gives af, like no offense. Sure they probably wanted to tell us illegal gambling is bad but make that shit subtle. Not drag on for 5+ episodes!!!!! It’s not just for this lakorn but lakorns in general. I don’t know what the hell was up with the editing team.
Another annoying thing was Mae Pong. I did not understand her hate towards Saisamorn/Mayom. The lady was hating on her up until almost the very end. Even when it was revealed that Saisamorn was rich, she still treated Saisamorn like she killed someone 🙄. I wished Mae Pong would have sincerely apologized to her for how she mistreated her but we never got that. Also I didn’t get how Mae Pong and Marasri was still associating with Temorn’s family when they knew or suspected that family of opening up illegal gambling houses. Where was the justice between them and Saisamorn???!!!!
Like I said, August & Namfah still looked cute together. If anything they’re much closer now than they were 3 years ago. The chemistry is still there but got wasted over this lakorn. Now that August is a freelance actor, the chances of them reuniting are very slim. And I highly believe it’s time Namfah gets promoted to prime time lakorns where she can act with all them actors I feel she will have amazing chemistry with. The girl can act and has like the Thais call it, “public chemistry”😅 She’s better than some actresses the channel are promoting 😬 But yeah, I still prefer Mae Krua Kon Mai over this. But did you guys enjoy this lakorn or were you frustrated as me? Hahaha. Anyways, thanks for reading. See you in my next review 😘 although it’s not really a review.
